2013 is a “By the Book” Sencor year.
This is the 1st year in 5 we are not dealing with saturated soils at Sencor staging of Lentils and Chickpea. The previous 4 years, saw almost no Sencor drop into the root-zone when it was applied in front of rain because soil was already saturated and the new moisture did not move the Sencor down faster the crop could metabolize it. This year is nothing like that and producers who have had luck cheating with water volumes, rates, staging and timing in front of heavy rains will not see the same good results this year.
We ourselves recommended those cheats knowing the saturated soil situation, but we are not recommending any pushing of the envelope this year. Sencor will be racing into the root zone this year – so will Pursuit if anyone thinks that’s the fix – and we have to go back to the old rules and forget about trying to bend them.
For Staging, Water/Nozzel Rules, and a detailed Rate chart, the J-MAS Playbooks – Sencor page is available for customers.
