Best Bids – Oct. 2015
With harvest resuming and frost not seeming to have affected the late crop enough to have impacted prices, we are moving along a number of sales before a potentially very poor pricing and delivery system sets itself up through October and into November.
Looks as if Green Lentils have peaked and we are finishing up sales at what is the highest price a #2 has ever traded and and upside therefore much more limited than downside.
We are also moving along Canola, Durum sales but not finishing either quite yet as we feel there are a couple of Bullish tailwinds that could set up in the winter but note that they thesis for each is thin and anyone wishing to wrap sales on Durum are welcome to.
Sales Recommended this week: Green Lentils finished up. Canola Yield Bump Plus sale and Durum moved along.
Canola – Take $10.03 (465F-22B) Sep Delivery on a 2 Bushel Yield Bump plus 8% to be 60% sold on a 45bu crop. *$10.03 minus 0c
Deferred Delivery costs equates to $10.03 spot value and is a roughly 60% profit on 45 bushels. Current Sep bid is $10.03 (a roughly 60% ROI).
**$8.62 Jan Bean close at 75.4c exchange would value at 475 Jan futures ($10.36@18B) with a $50/mt Canola premium.**
Durum – Take $8.77 #2(13.0) Sep Delivery on 10% to be 80% sold on a 45bu crop. *$8.77 is a roughly 46% profit on a 45 bushel crop.
Current Sep bid is $8.77 (a roughly 46% ROI).
LG Lentil – Take 42c #2 on 15% to be 100% sold on a 26bu crop. *42.0c is about 139% profit on a 26 bushel crop.
Current Sep bid is 42.0c (a roughly 139% ROI).
*Discount MG – 1.5c
*Discount SG – 4.0c
Red Lentil – Target 38.5c Sep Delivery on 10% to be 90% sold. Current Sep bid is 35.0c.

**There is weakness in Green Lentils today. Check in with your preferred buyers to see where they are sitting.**
A US Fed set to influence our Dollar and appetite for risk later today, coupled with the bearish grain production numbers surfacing, there is incentive to catch-up Canola, Durum and Pulse sales before volatility ensues.
We did not makes sales across the Pulse board yesterday on an interest rate scare. There has been beneficial rains in India and with good coverage buying to date, we see upside subdued. We believe prices will remain strong. But strong prices can still mean 33c Greens instead of 43c, 30c Reds instead of 35c and $8.25 Peas instead of $9.04. Chickpea are the only pulse where we believe significant upside “could exist”.
I will be sending out a survey today to get some feedback on how you would like to receive Winter texts with respect to how much and what format you get that info.
